About the work:
“The Benefits Of Incompatibility” is a gouache painting on 14″x16″ naturally aged brown paper, circa 2014.

Gouache painting of shapes, metallics, iridescence, patterns and colors. Some view these paintings as aerial views of landscapes and playgrounds, surreal kitchen ingredients, and organisms under a microscope. It is entirely up to the imagination of the viewer. As an abstract painting, you have the freedom to hang it any way that seems fit… upside down or even on its sides.

Signature is embedded in painting. Title, date and artist’s hand-written signature on back. There are three holes along the margin of the vintage paper.

What is Gouache?
Gouache is a water-soluble paint that is opaque, rather than transparent like watercolor. The use of gouache is centuries old. From the Italian “guazzo”, meaning “water paint”, its use appears to go back some 800 years, used originally to illuminate manuscripts. Early European painters used it as an outdoor sketching medium, and it was used extensively during the golden age of magazine illustration because of its fast-drying characteristics.
